"Disaster" presented by Onstage in Bedford

DISASTER!
play program
On the Sunday afternoon before July 4th, Dear Friend and The Travelling Toe spent a fun and hilarious time at the local theatre, Onstage in Bedford.  The play we saw was titled "Disaster!"

Dear Readers, do you remember the famous disaster movies of the 1970's?  Movie epics such as the "The Poseidon Adventure" and "Airport"  provided some of the inspiration for this play.  It was written by Seth Rudetsky, Jack Plotnick and Drew Geraci.

The play takes place in 1979 in Manhattan.  It is the opening night of the "Barracuda", a floating casino and disco.  However there is danger afloat as the manager has cut corners on construction and safety features plus the casino has been built over a fault line.  With earthquakes happening ever so often, one can just feel the pending doom about to take place on stage. The play has the typical cast of characters character such as the
star-crossed lovers, a nun, a senior couple, a disco queen and her dog Baby, a sexy lounge singer and her twins and of course a professor who keeps trying to warn everyone of the impending doom....of course no one listens as they keep on dancing to that disco beat!

All of this hilarity is set to some of the popular songs of the 1970's.  Here are just a few of the songs that provided so many laughs during the play:

"Torn Between Two Lovers"

"Never Can Say Goodbye"

"Hooked On A Feeling"

"Reunited"

"Knock On Wood"

"Baby Hold On To Me"

"I Am Woman"

"Hot Stuff"

"Feelings"

If you want to laugh all though a show and walk out humming some of these golden oldies from the 70's, then this play is for you Dear Readers.
