HURST SENIOR CENTER |
Recently The Travelling Toe attended a seminar titled "Downsizing Made Easy" which was held at the Senior Citizen Center in Hurst..The team of Larry and Tammy Robbins, Real Estate Sales, presented and hosted the program. Larry and Tammy are senior housing experts and can assist with the process,
There are lots of us who are thinking maybe it is time to start cleaning out and maybe even move to a smaller place. The Robbins' had some suggestions on the topic.
When you have made the decision that you are moving, be sure to obtain a floor plan of the new place you are considering so you will know what fits or doesn't. Also consider if it makes fiscal sense for you to move so know you income and expenses.. Also investigate your housing options to find out what is available in your area. Do you want to be close to your church, friends, family? In other words what is most important to you, taking into consideration house size, maintenance, location, availability. and monthly fees.
When you begin to prepare your house for sale, here are a few things to consider:
curb appeal
condition of roof
condition of flooring
any updates to kitchen or bathrooms such as:
countertops
hardware
features
Consider costs versus benefits of repairs and updates.
Make a plan to deal with all the stuff you have accumulated. You can have an estate sale, donate the items or sign up on an internet sales site.
If you have children determine what they want or don't want. Is that family china, silver and crystal important to them? Additionally they should become the holders of their own boxes of memories from their school days.
The Senior Downsizing Experts, Igrid and & John Sullivan have published a new book on strategies to make the downsizing process as painless as possible. The number to call to reserve your copy is 817-330-9235. The cost of the book was not provided.
This decision making process is like that the tagline of a commercial.....should I stay or should I go? Only you can make that decision. But with some professional assistance and good planning it can be done!
