THE COLLECTION OF NANCY LEE AND PERRY R.BASS KIMBELL ART MUSEUM |
Kimbell Art Museum
The Travelling Toe and several girlfriends scheduled an art adventure to the Kimbell Art Museum recently. There were nine in this merry group of art pundits.
The Collection of Nancy Lee and Perry R. Bass is on display in the new Piano exhibit gallery at the Kimbell. There are 37 works of art, both paintings and sculptures, to view. The exhibit is on until May 24th and admission is free. (you can't get any better than free)
Just a few names of the more famous painters featured are:
- Calder
- Chagall
- Van Gogh
- Matisse
- Monet
- Pissarro
There are sculptures by Rodin and Remington and paintings by contemporary artists Miro and Rothko.
Even though The Travelling Toe gravitates towards Monet or Pissarro or even Van Gogh, the 2 landscape paintings by Jean Baptiste Guillaumin are heart capturing - full of color. But see them for yourself and then you get to choose your favorite.
At the entrance of the gallery is a lovely portrait of Mr. and Mrs. Bass, painted by local artist Scott Gentling. The Bass art collection began with the presentation of Rodin's famous sculpture "The Kiss" as a 25th wedding anniversary from Perry Bass to his lovely wife Nancy.

It is a deep hope of us all that this collection will somehow remain here in Fort Worth, the hometown of Mr. and Mrs. Bass.
