JASON BOURNE movie poster |
Yes, Jason Bourne is back. It has been 10 years since he took it on the lam to hide from the CIA. His friend Nicky Parsons who had helped him escape the clutches of the CIA, went her own way to hide-out. But she recently surfaced at a hacker site in Iceland. The CIA was tracking her and dispatched a hit team to take her out, but she escaped again. She and Jason meet up in Athens, Greece while angry protests are taking place on the city streets. Running the operation from DC is CIA Agent Heather Lee. The hit team trails them but one by one Jason deals with them. Stealing a motorcycle, they try to make their escape when a sniper (known only as The Asset) takes out Nicky. But before she died she ensured that Jason had the flash drive with all the information about Treadstone on it. The sniper is an old enemy of Jason's. He was played by Vincent Cassel who always makes the best bad guy. Also Tommy Lee Jones plays CAI Director Dewey who has something to hide from his past and from Jason. Part of the plot also includes software developed by Aaron Kalloor that tracks users activity by utilizing various forms of social media. But Kalloor begins to have second thoughts about being in cahoots with the CIA. But as we have learned, Dear Readers, once you are in with the CIA there is not getting out.
We found the movie very intense with lots of car chases, motorcycle chases, knife fights, fist fights, gun fights and dirty dealing. But one great thing about the movie (OK, well, besides a beefed up Matt Damon) was travelling the world. In the movie we were in Iceland, Greece, Washington DC, Berlin, London and Las Vegas. And by the way, if you are going to Las Vegas anytime soon, there may not be much of it left after Jason and the bad guy ran havoc through the strip!
