The story beings with Dr. Hank Pym, played by Michael Douglas, who is a scientist and has created a new weapon.   At the meeting with other players in the field, Pym tells the group he will NOT sell the new technology and plans to keep it secret.  Pym retires and leaves this company to be run by Darren Cross (Corey Stoll) and his daughter Hope (Evangeline Lilly).

Time passes and we meet Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) who just getting out of prison.  He is not the average break and enter thief.  He stole money from secret bank accounts and credited the funds back to the people who had lost the money in a shady transaction.

Paul Rudd
He is picked up at prison by an old cellmate and friend, Luis (Michael Pena).

Michael Pena
Scott has a young daughter whom he dearly loves, but his ex-wife now has a new man in her life and she is will not let Scott see his daughter until he pays all the back child support he owes. Desperate for money, Luis and 2 other friends talk Scott into pulling another job. This time the heist is at a old Victorian house and it is suppose to have a large vault in the basement. They think it has to contain money and jewels. So Scott breaks into the house and opens the vault but the only thing in it is an old motorcycle suit.  Back at home, Scott puts the suit on and immediately shrinks to the size of an insect.  It scares Scott and he is determined to take the suit back where he found it.  He does that but as he is making his getaway he is captured by the police.  While in jail his lawyer comes to see him and the lawyer is actually Pym.  He tells Scott he can go back to jail and never see his daughter again or work with him by becoming Ant-Man.  Scott hesitates then decides to help Pym with his project.

The story line from there is Pym and Hope working with Scott getting him ready to become the new action hero Ant-Man. Scott also has to learn how to control various species of insects from ants to dragon flies. These creatures allow him to enter buildings and rooms through drains and vents undetected.  The reason they need his help is that Darren has created his own version of Ant-Man and calls it Yellowjacket. Pym, Hope and Scott have to stop him and infiltrating his lab calls for Ant-Man and his army of insects to pull off the caper.

There are a couple of things that "bug" one in the movie.   One glaring one is at the beginning, when Pym has his meeting with the group to tell them no they will not get the weapon, he slams one of the guy's head on the table and the guy's nose begins to bleed furiously.   But when the scene returns to this guy his nose is not bleeding and then the next time it is!!  Sloppy editing.   But here are many funny bits in the movie that made it enjoyable to watch. After all this is an action flick and is not based on any reality - well that we know of!.  But it is fun to watch.

The Travelling Toe gives this movie 2 middle toes up with a can of Raid 'cause we don't like no stinking roaches in our movies!
