The Travelling Toe and a dear friend attended the Saturday matinee of "Oklahoma" staged by the Stolen Shakespeare Guild.

The play was staged in the small Sanders Theater at the Fort Worth Community Arts Center. However, the stage manager and set designer did a magnificent job by using the backdrop and the side sets in various ways. It was a very creative use of the space available.

The costumes were also very nicely done and reflected the time period of the play.

If you have ever seen the play or even the movie version of it, you would know that normally it begins with Curly entering into view singing "Oh What A Beautiful Morning" to Aunt Eller, who was played Lana K Hoover. In this case, Curly, played by Chris Ramirez, entered from the back of the theater and filled it with a magnificent voice. Chris was very impressive in his role as Curly from his booming voice, to his acting and dancing skills and he even had a curly lock on his forehead.
Morgan Haney played Laurey and did a great job in her role as well. Chris and Morgan were wonderful together in their duet "People Will Say We're In Love".
One thing about "Oklahoma" is that sometimes the bad guy, Jud is overlooked. He never gets his due for this part. But Neil Rogers was evilly good in his acting and singing, plus his clothes reflected his outlook on life.
All the supporting actors were smashing in both singing and dancing, giving this production a lively and fun vibe.
This was without a doubt one of the best productions of this play that The Travelling Toe has seen in sometime.
Fort Worth is so fortunate to be able to support all the high quality live theater that is available in this area. There is always something wonderful to see. So go see it!
