Oak Alley Plantation Home |
The Travelling Toe with 2 other companions on a recent trip to Baton Rogue LA, made a stop at Oak Alley. The pathway to the house is shaded by huge oak trees that tower over the pathway, as shown in this
photo from their website. During the tour we took of the house, we learned that these oak trees are over 300 years old and were planted before the house was even built. These types of oak tress can live to be over 600 years...so we still have more time to enjoy them. We opted to have lunch at the cafe on the grounds. The food was tasty and the service attentive. We also assisted with increasing the economies of the property by shopping in the rather large and uniquely stocked gift shop. After touring, eating and shopping, we walked around the grounds to take in the beautiful plants, flowers and trees.
