The Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth, TX, is hosting an exhibit from the Musee d' Orsay, in Paris. The exhibit features master works from the likes of Renoir, Monet, Degas, Manet, Cezanne, Van Gogh and even sculptures by Rodin. The paintings and sculptures are on display in the new wing of the Kimbell, the Renzo Piano Pavilion. There is an audio guide available for a nominal fee. However, The Travelling Toe and friend opted just to wander around, reading the display cards and enjoying the beauty of these remarkable works of art. The exhibit is comprised of portraits. However you will find that these portraits are very engaging and drawing the viewer into the scene that the artist tried to capture. The colors are often bright and even luminous. There are a couple that are large scale and one features a group portrait of some of the featured artists. The exhibit leaves the museum as of January 25th. This is very well worth the time and crowds to see these wonderful works of art. And the price of the entrance ticket to the Kimbell is much cheaper than a ticket to Paris.
