With 3 chums, the Travelling Toe recently attended a Sunday afternoon performance of Nell Benjamin's madcap comedy, "The Explorers Club" at Stage West, in Fort Worth. The play centers on a snobbish club in London for "male" explorers to gather, drink, smoke smelly cigars and exchange stories (or lies) without the companionship of the fairer sex. When a female explorer is presented as a prospective member, the fun commences. With a many a mistake of who is who, the play takes a few turns and twists. The acting at Stage West is always excellent and they can perform serious thought provoking plays as well as drawing room comedy - as in this one. The Travelling Toe must give kudos to the set designer, Clare Floyd De Vries. She created a true English club atmosphere in the heart of Cowtown that would rival any real decor overseas. Excellent work Clare!
Stage West is a local community theater and is always worth the price of the ticket. The Travelling Toe has never been disappointed with any performance seen there.
